Who's #1 in your life?

What's #1 in your life?

 Today I would like to talk about who or what is the  most important thing in your life? The bible says in: Mark 12:30- And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment. If we love God with all our heart don't you think that he will be #1 in our life? I know that I many times get my mind on earthly things instead of keeping my focus on God!
My mom has pointed out to me reacently that I sometimes spent to much time blogging & being on the computer instead of spending time in God's word & prayer. I've realized that I have been spending more time blogging, writing, reading, etc. that I should have been putting in spending time with God. As many of you know- I love to blog! But I am going to try to focus on this less & on God more. I really think that me being so caught up in earthly things is getting my sight of of God. So I am going to start reading my bible more and blog less.
The people that we love we spend time with, so if we love God more then anything wouldn't we want to spend time with him by reading the bible & praying more then anything else? The things that we love we make time for. For instance I love to blog so I make time for it, I also love to play the piano so I make time for that also. So if we love God won't we make time for him? We should be focused on God more then anything else! So many times we go a day watching TV, playing on the computer, hanging out with friends, but yet we skip reading our bible or praying for a day and we just shrug it off as " no big deal" But spending time with God is a HUGE DEAL! As christians we need to want to praise God and live for him every day.
   This week instead of spending so much time blogging, playing, writing, or whatever else you love to do, dedicate your days to God! What you take time to do each day shows you what is #1 in your life. If you are spending your time doing wordly things, that is what is #1 in your life! Either listening to music, or playing sports, or eithen blogging is more important to you then God, then he is not #1 in your life! Blogging isn't wrong in itself, but if it is more important to us then spending time with God it is wrong.
   I want God to be #1 in my life, and not little earthly things that in the end do not matter!
This week we should ask ourselves this question- What is the #1 most important thing in my life? And if it isn't God, then we aren't truly living for God like we should!

My life as a missionary's kid

OK, so a few of you guys said something about me posting more about my life, and I totally agree! I haven't done a post about " my life" for a while now;( It's just that every time we go some where I always forget to take pictures, and then I just don't know what to post about!

 But then an idea came to me about doing posts on what it's like to be a missionary's kid! So I'll do one, and if you all like it & want me to post more please tell me!

The thing I want to talk about today is how I feel about visiting Teen Sunday School classes. Now my family had been on the road for about six years! Which means I've been in over 250 Churches, over 15 states, over 200 hotels, and in a LOT of teen classes. When we first started traveling I was only 7 years old and I actually greatly enjoyed traveling. But now that I am a teenager many things have changed!

#1- I don't like being away from my friends here where I live.

#2- Teenagers seem to be more unfriendly in churches now a days.

#3- I always feel awkward when I'm in a class where no one knows me.

The # 1 think I do not like about traveling is visiting teen classes. And the reason why is because most, not all, but most teens tend to be unfriendly to missionary's. I think that they aren't trying to be that way, but that they are sometimes too shy to come up and introduce themselves. I know that for me it is often hard to walk up to someone I don't know and have a conversation with them. But anyways I am going to mention 3 pointers on how you can make a missionary's kid feel welcome.

#1- introduce yourself

#2- Carry on a conversation with them.

#3- sit by them instead of with the other teens you usually sit with.

So many times I have been in a teen class where I am practically invisible. Nobody notices I am there, talks to me, or sits by me. I usually sit alone. Teens can get so caught up in their lives that they don't even notice when there is a visitor at their church. Now I know how hard it can be to go up and talk to a missionaries kid; but believe me when I say it when a missionary's kid goes into a class and someone goes out of their way to talk to them, etc. it is such a GREAT blessing!

 I will always remember the kids who come up to me at churches and make me feel welcome! Often we stay in contact and become friends. I have two examples I would like to share with you-

About 4 or 5 years ago I went to a church in NC and one of the girls of the church went out of their way to talk to me and make me feel welcome! Today we still keep in contact; e-mailing & writing letters. I know that we will be life-long friends and she is such a great blessing to me:) Hope McDaniel if you are reading this, thank you so much for your kindness! You will never know how much you have been a blessing to me:)

Another example happened only a few weeks ago at a Missions Conference in FL! The pastor's daughter went out of her way to make me feel so comfortable! I will never forget the kindness she showed me. I know that we will also be great friends forever. Bree Wiley if you are reading this thank you so much for being one of the few teens who made me feel welcome:)

You see, kindness can go a long way. I have made life-long friends just because some girls came and introduced themselves to me! I encourage you to show kindness to visiting missionary kids who come to your church, because what may seem as a little act of kindness can go a long way!

 Balloons.

Thank you all for reading:) Hope you have a blessed day.

Pride

It's that time of week again:) Yes, it's time for a devotional!

Pride

The Bible says that being prideful is a very wicked thing! The bible says in: Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Pride is an evil offence towards God! I mean think about it- Are we really that great? Uh,no. The truth is without God we would be nothing. God is perfect! We are definitely imperfect. We sin many times each day. Isn't God so wonderful to forgive us for all of our sins!?!

People get so caught up in things about-THEMSELVES! I know that each and everyone of us have pride, because that's just the way we are without God. But if we really just sat down and thought about all the filthy sin that we do, we realize that we are nothing... without God. With God we can be something , we can be something amazing that He can use. God can use each of us to do something amazing, but not unless we see that HE IS AMAZING, and we are nothing without him. I mean without God we wouldn't even exist!

In order for God to be able to use us, we need to be his HUMBLE servants! Once we begin to think of ourselves so highly, we loose sight of God. We begin to think we can do things without Him, we begin to think that we can take care of things by ourselves, but we are wrong! We couldn't make it without God. He should be our EVERYTHING! Christians who think so highly of themselves because they think they are "godly" are so wrong, we should be humble and thank God for his amazing grace.  I'm sure that God gets annoyed when people think they are so awesome, instead of thanking him for what he has done for them. Because without him, they wouldn't exist!

  Just remember this week how amazing our God is, and how small we are compared to him! Try to focus on God this week instead of focusing on yourself.

Needed to hear this!

P.S. and just for you all know, I am going to have a giveaway when I reach 60 followers =)

I have written a book (well sort of)

As many of you all ready know, I LOVE TO WRITE, and that I want to become a writer when I grow up. I have been working on writing this book called " Clair Bridge" for about 6 months, and I am glad to announce that I have finished it! I was going to self publish it, but I decided against it because I didn't think it was quite good enough. So I am now writing a new book called " The forgotten Letter" and it's going pretty good so far, and if I am happy with the end result I will probably publish it:):) But anyway I am finished with Clair Bridge and I have posted it on my other blog- Short Stories from Britt! If you would like to read it please click on the image below:
If you do read it, please tell me how you like it! And also please pray that the new book I am working on will turn out good so I can possibly get it published=)

Book Review #2

 So I've decided to do a book review! You guys seemed to enjoy the other one I did so I'm going to do another one on this awesome miniseries I just read! OK, so there are three books, and I will just do a short description of each of them and then I will give you my thoughts on each of them=)

Book #1

Jessilyn Lassiter never knew that hatred could lurk in the human heart until the summer of 1932 when she turned 13. When her best friend, Gemma, loses her parents in a tragic fire, Jessilyn's father vows to care for her as one of his own, despite the fact that Gemma is black and prejudice is prevalent in their southern Virginia town. Violence springs up as a ragtag band of Ku Klux Klan members unite and decide to take matters into their own hands. As tensions mount in the small community, loyalties are tested and Jessilyn is forced to say good-bye to the carefree days of her youth.

Book #2

Jessilyn Lassiter and her best friend Gemma Teague have survived prejudice and heartache in their lifelong friendship, but the summer of 1936 threatens to tear them apart yet again. Tragedy strikes when Jessilyn’s cherished neighbor girl is hit by a car and killed. Things get worse when an elderly friend is falsely accused of the crime, and the only way to clear his name is to put her family’s livelihood in jeopardy. For Jessilyn, this is a choice too hard to bear and she wonders where to turn for answers, especially when an angry mob threatens vigilante justice.

Book #3

When Tal Pritchett—a young, black doctor—comes to Calloway, stealing the heart of Jessilyn’s best friend, Gemma, and stirring up the racial prejudice that has been simmering just beneath the town’s surface. The tension starts to bubble over when Jessie’s elderly neighbor Miss Cleta becomes the first white townsperson to accept Tal’s treatment. And when a young black man is hanged, Calloway is brought to its knees once again as Jessilyn realizes that her anger can make her heart as full of hate as the klan members who have terrorized her town and her family.

 ~~~~~
Main characters in this trilogy:
Jessie- Jessie is the main character of this fantastic trilogy! She has a big heart but also a big mouth, and both often get her in trouble. She has a very quick temper and she is also very brave. She struggles with her faith, and blames God for the horrible things happening around her.
Gemma- Jessie's best friend, who has lived with her and her family ever since Gemma's parents died in a tragic fire. She is insulted and in danger constantly because of the color of her skin.
Luke- Luke has been Jessie's friend ever since she was thirteen when he rescued her from drowning! He is a hard-working, kind person. He would do anything to protect the ones he loves.
Miss Cleta- An elderly christian woman who befriends Jessie. She is stubborn and not one to be messed with, but she has a heart of gold!
* there are so many other characters that come along in the series, but these are the ones that stick out the most*
Main Plot through out the series:
The Ku Klux Klan attacks Jessie and her family for taking in an orphaned black girl. Their hearts that are full of hatred will do anything to get rid of Negros in the Small town of Calloway- even murder! Jessie must stand up for her friends and witness the evil of the world. She is nearly killed, rashly threatened, and has dear loved ones lost. But yet in the end she finds the true meaning of life!
My thoughts:
These books were absolutely amazing! I literally read all of the books in three days! That's how AWESOME they were. They were so good, sweet, and full of adventure. I would recommend these books for anyone! You should totally get these books right away, I guarantee you will not regret it:)
My rating is : 5 stars out of 5
