Thanksgiving

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
- Melody Beattie

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! God bless you all.

All we need

 The things you have in life- are they enough? Are you Happy-content? Are you thankful for what God has given to you or do you yearn for more?

 Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
I would like to use the illustration of Adam and Eve in the garden as an example of "We always want more and the things we have in life are usually not enough for us...or so we think"

Adam and Eve had it all! I mean they lived in paradise! Everything was available to them- food, nature, animals, each other, and most importantly fellowship with God, but in a matter of seconds it all changed. Why? because they wanted more. It doesn't matter how much us humans have we'll always want more! For instance you see what fame and riches do to people- they always want more money, or more fame, etc. The human heart is never truly content. But with God's help we can be. I'd just like to share three steps to "being more thankful and content in life"

1) Get over what's wrong in your life and look at what you've got.
This is probably one of the biggest steps to being discontent. We forget what good things we have and focus on the things we don't have. For example Adam and Eve could eat any of the trees in the garden; I'm sure there were hundreds! But what did they focus on? They focused on what they didn't have- the one tree in the Garden they couldn't eat of. I mean God blessed them SO much. He said they could have everything besides the fruit of that one tree. But they weren't content with that- they focused on the one thing they didn't have and forgot all the things they did have. Don't focus on one thing you don't have guys! I know I do this SO many times. I get focused on things I want instead of things I have.

2) Don't stray away from God's word
Something else Adam and Eve did was forget what God had originally told them -And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And instead they listened to the lies Satan told them-  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Once you get out of God's word the world's pleasures will overcome you.
3) Focus on God not yourself
The third mistake Adam and Eve made was that they started to focus on what they wanted instead of what God wanted. Just know this and practice this and you'll be content, and thankful to God instead of always wanting more- God knows what we need and he will give us what we need; the devil knows what we want and he'll give us that until we've completely lost sight of God and get sucked up into the terrible things of the world. You see what we want isn't always what's best for us! What we want is usually selfish and will not be eternally valuable. But God takes care of us by giving us what we need.

The thing is guys- we are blessed so VERY much. God has supplied all our needs and more! I know that it's thanksgiving week and stuff but we shouldn't just thank God during Thanksgiving but throughout the year because God doesn't just bless us at Thanksgiving-he blesses us all year long! So let's thank him all year long!

thank you god

Animated movie geek

Yeah. The title pretty much covers what this post is about =P I'm like the weirdest person when it comes to animated movies! I think I like animated movies more then anyone I know and everyone I do know thing I'm still a little kid for liking them...which I kind of am so oh well =P Anyway I just thought I'd talk about my top 5 favorite animated movies (choosing five was a very hard task since I have about a hundred)

OK SO....

#1- Tangled

Tangled

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Like seriously-it's amazing. I mean I can't even begin to say how awesome it was. The plot, characters, humor, love story....it's like perfect. Tangled is by the far the best Disney princess movie to me. When Brave came out last year I was so excited but was greatly disapointed =/ I loved the fact that it was based in Scotland and stuff but I feel they didn't do near as good as a job with Tangled. But I am so excited about Frozen!!! It looks awesome =D (BTW did anyone else notice that all the new princess movies have just been one word? Tangled,Brave, Frozen...) But anyway I really loved Flynn and Repunzel =) I think it's like the best love story!

OK; let's move on...

#2- Monsters University

怪獸大學 / Monsters University

Where do I begin? Monsters University was AWESOME! I expected it to be good but it was GREAT. cutest movie ever! SO hilarious. animation was so cool; Mike was SO cute =D Overall this movie was just so adorable, funny, and heartwarming! Gotta love the friendship between Mike & Sully. I love how this movie really went through the history of them. So totally awesome- a must see for anyone

#3- Rise of the Guardians

Rise of the Guardians

Ok so like I said it's really hard to pick my top favorites but rise of the guardians is definitly way up there =D Loved this movie. Before I watched it I thought it would be pretty dumb and not that awesome but I was so wrong! Loved Jack frost; he was so cool. This movie had good humor, and I just loved it.

#4- Anastasia

I used to watch this movie every time I went to my grandmas house. Lol it's still one of my favorite movies.

Ok this is a no-brainer for me! LOL; I've loved this movie since I was a little girl =D I've like seen this movie a million times. I loved the characters, loved the plot (I've always loved the story about Anastasia and even though this isn't exactly historically correct I loved the twist on the story)

#5- Quest for Camelot

Quest for Camelot

This one is a old favorite too! But I really love this movie. Love the characters to death, the plot was fun and exciting. I loved the soundtrack to this movie and it had all the characteristics of a great animated movie. Even though it's old and the animated isn't "modern" it still is a great movie.

OK so I only had a ton of other animated movies I love like: Bolt, Despicable me, Up,.....The list goes on and on but I'll stop at five =D

Just thought I'd add this totally cool fan art thing
 I would watch this movie

and if you haven't already please read my friend Hope's guest post =D

Guest post

I would like to introduce to you an amazing friend of mine! She's been such an encouragement and inspiration to me over the years and I think she will be to you guys too today!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey, I’m Hope. I’m 15, I’m loved and beautifully forgiven by my best friend, God, and I get to be close friends with one of the sweetest girls on earth, yep you guessed it, your blogger friend Brittney. I’m so glad she asked me to do a guest post on here. I thought I would just share a few things that have been on my mind lately. Knowing me..well, this might just get a little lengthy, I tend to get carried away when I start talking about my spiritual life, always so much to learn.
Recently, I flipped through my bible and came across Lamentations. I had never actually read it and I didn't really know what it was about. I mean all I knew is that It was some sad book in the middle of the bible that's really hard to find.
But I read it. Starting at chapter one..all the way through. It really wasn't as confusing as I thought it was, I actually got carried away and lost in the “story” of what was happening to Israel.
Basically, the writer gives all these comparisons to what Israel was like, how she was “feeling” you could say. In detail it described the hopeless state of the country and the pain and hurt it was going through. Even though this was describing a country, I could relate so well. In verse 17 and 18 it says “And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgot prosperity.And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord”
Often life can become crazy. And it seems like nothing is peaceful, nothing is the way it used to be, everything is a huge wreck and you feel so weak and tired of it all.
I honestly don't know hardly any of you who are reading this. I don't know where you are in life. What type of trials you're going through. What kind of pain you're dealing with right now. But never forget that God is using what you are going through to bring something good about in your life. And i’m not just sitting here telling you this in ignorance of how it feels to go through something hard. It’s not easy now, but as you go through this hard time, remember that God is doing something amazing. God is doing something beautiful in your life, whether you can see it right now or not.
When you feel like everything is falling apart, God is usually putting it back together
Not only is God at work in your life, he is there for you in the good times and the bad. He is constant. Lamentations 3 draws attention to this in such an impacting way:
   But this I call to mind,  and therefore I have hope:
   This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord's
mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my
portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a
man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. It is
good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. He sitteth alone and
keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him. He putteth his mouth
in the dust; if so be there may be hope. He giveth his cheek to him that
smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.For the Lord will not cast off for
ever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to
the multitude of his mercies.
Okay, if you just scanned over those verses not really paying attention to what you read, why do you go back right now and reread it..and this time really soak it all in.
These verses are amazing. Never forget that God is a loving and caring God who is never going to let you go. He will help through your worst day and biggest trial.
When I read these I was having one of those “every hard circumstance floods your mind all at once” kind of day..it just made me stop and think, when I start to feel overwhelmed by these kind of days, I can recall the fact that God is faithful and his mercies never fail, therefore I can have hope. I can have peace(like the feeling when you're walking along the ocean as the sun sets, the wind blowing in your face, wading in the water..with none of life's worries in your mind), and trust God.
Trusting God doesn't mean we never have questions, doubts, or fears. We can’t shut down our normal human reactions to harsh circumstances. But trusting God means that in spite of our questions, doubts, and fears, we continue to count on two facts: God is always in control, and God always cares.
Through the chaos, spend time with God  “walking on the beach” so to speak. God wants to do amazing things in you through every circumstance you face. So why don’t you just stop trying to bear the hurt alone, and ask God to change you, grow you, and lead you on an amazing journey of awesome faith.
Thank you
 ♥
Be thankful.
Give thanks.
 Have gratitude.
Appreciate.
Never forget how blessed you are.
We are blessed beyond measure. God has given us SO much but yet we give so little in return. Take time today to say thank you to God, but not only to him but to everyone else in your life. I challenge you to go and tell everyone you know something that your thankful for about them.
Tell your mom thank you for cooking meals for you every single day.
Thank your dad for his support and for taking care of your family.
 Thank your brother or sister for the little things they've done for you that you've so easily forgotten.
Thank your friend for the little words of encouragement they gave you when you most needed it.
There is something that every single person has done for you that you need to thank them for. Remember the good things they did for you and thank them for it.
Appreciate what you have…
"I have been blessed, God's so good to me, precious are His thoughts of you and me.  No way I could count them there's not enough time, so I'll just thank Him for being so kind.  God has been good, so good.  I have been blessed"
Talents and gifts
"Everyone has talents! Once you've found yours pursue it"
I believe everyone has talents. God made all of us different and unique. He has given all of us different talents. He's given some of us the talent of designing, some writing, some singing or playing musical instruments, and there are so many other talents that he has given each and everyone of us.
God made us all special. None of us our the same. We all are different. Isn't that amazing? No two people are the same. Out of the billions of people in the world there is only one you.
  I know that at times I have felt that I was useless. That I just didn't have talents and gifts like other people, but that's not true. God gave me and you certain gifts that only we possess. But he didn't give them to us just to sit around and do nothing with them. He gave us these talents to use to glorify him.
    Many times we might not even know what are talent is. That's why we should always go out and try new things! Maybe you'll be good at something you didn't even know you liked. Discover your talents and use them.
The problem now'a'days is that sometimes people discover their talents and completely misuse them. For instance a girl might have a beautiful voice but instead of using her voice to glorify God she yearns to become popular-to become known by the world. I don't know about you but I don't want to be known by the world- I want to be known by God. Yes; of course he already knows me but I'm saying instead of pleasing the world I want to please him. As humans are first instinct when we find something good about ourself is to "show it off to the world." I mean let's be honest if your good at something you want others to see it and praise you for it. Yeah, I think we are all guilty of this. That's the trap so many actors/actresses, singers, and other famous people fall in. They wan't the world to see them and love them. We shouldn't want to show other what we can do- but what God can do.
   We wouldn't have our gifts without God giving them to us so why would we take all the credit? We are God's tools and he is the one who uses us. Not the other way around. We need to use our talents to glorify God not ourselves. Yes God made you special and yes you have great talents but we didn't get those things by ourselves. They came from him! So yes remember that you do have special talents but don't let that get to your head. Instead pursue your talents and use them in whatever way possible to please him!
create a character
So I was thinking that I haven't done a linkup on here for awhile so I thought I'd do one now =) This one is for all of you imaginitive writers out there! So here is what you do...
1) Find a picture off Pinterest, google, etc. of a fictional charcter.
2) create a name, story, place, and life for your character
3) do a blog post with the picture above^ and a link back to this post
Pretty simple huh? Below I'm going to put an example of a character I made =) If you all like this maybe I can start doing it like every other week or something with a different theme each time and do like a contest thing =) But that's totally up to you!
My Character
Name: Mila
Age:16
Lives in: Austin, TX
Loves: art, design, & running
Abbout:  Mila has amazing talents. She's an amazing artist and designer but she is too afraid and shy to show and use her talents. She keeps herself busy by running with her school track-and-field team and she's the fastest high school student in her state. Her parents want her to work harder on her running, her coach tells her if she tries hard she'll might make it to the Olympics. But to Mila that's her parents and coaches dream not hers. She dreams of becoming something she loves to do more then run. She wants to be an artist, but she's going to have to show her parents that even though she's good at running she's even better at painting, and painting is more important to her then making it to the Olympics.
All right there you have it folks =P Now it's your turn! I hope lots of you enter =) and if you do please give me the link to your entry!
