Banana Tres Leches

Banana Tres Leches Dessert

This last Saturday we had some people over and my mom asked me to make a dessert. I wasn't really sure what to make but I thought I'd go for something kind of special and unusual. My dad has always loved Tres Leches and we both like bananas so I decided to try out this new recipe I found--Banana Tres Leches. Wasn't sure how it would turn out but I tried it anyway! It was a smashing success! lol; My dad LOVED it and the others did too.
I know I haven't ever posted a recipe on here before but I personally always like finding new recipes so I thought I'd share with you all this one.

Banana Tres Leches

1 box of white cake mix (super moist works best)
2 tablespoons of  vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup water
3 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas (2 bananas)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup (from 14-oz can) coconut milk (not cream of coconut)
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 container of fluffy, white frosting

  •   Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan.
  •   In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil, eggs and mashed bananas with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Pour into pan.
  •   Bake 33 to 38 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  •  Cool completely (this is very important. Cake can not be warm.)
  •   Poke top of cake every 1/2 inch with a fork, wiping fork occasionally to reduce sticking.
  •  In large bowl, stir together condensed milk, coconut milk and whipping cream. Carefully pour evenly over top of cake.
  • Cover; refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight until mixture is absorbed into cake. (the longer the better)
  • Spread frosting over cake. (you can Garnish each serving with banana slices and/or toasted coconut for extra flavor and decoration)
  • Keep refrigerated until served
Hope at least one of you all make this sometime! And if you do I'd love to know how you liked it. Do you all like the idea of me posting recipes or are you not really interested?

"Garbage in, garbage out"

laptop photo
Today I just thought I'd share some things with you that I was reading in a book recently about media and the control it can have over our lives! I hope that this will be an encouragement and help to you if it's something you struggle with...and to be honest I think we all struggle with it a bit without even realizing it.

Computer programmers developed the phrase "garbage in, garbage out." It meant that whatever you program into the computer is what your going to get out of it. Good or bad. This is also the case with our minds-what goes into it will eventually come out in our lives.

Media is a constant distraction in our day and age. People are constantly texting their friends, checking their facebook status, tweeting their latest thought, or watching TV.  We are constantly feeding our brains with images from the web and television. Are these things helping us or hindering us in our Christian walk? Some people say it doesn't effect us at all-but their wrong.
A Hollywood actor said this:
"When you make a film you keep people captive for two hours and if you have nothing to say, or the wrong thing to say, it can have a really negative impact."

Walt Disney said:
Movies can and do have tremendous power in shaping young people's lives.

This is not only true about TV but also about music, and social media. Everything you put into your brain will eventually come out! If your watching immoral TV shows it'll come out in your thoughts...and then it will come out in your actions. You might think that watching one bad movie, or reading one trashy book won't hurt you...but it will.

The Bible says in: Philippians 4:8-  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Whenever you're watching a YouTube video, reading a book, or watching some movie always keep this verse in mind. Is what your doing pure? Lovely? Is it going to draw you closer to God....or farther away?
I believe the reason so many young people stray away from the Lord, is because they start watching and looking at the wrong things, then they start thinking on those things, and then they act those things out.
Satan knows how to deceive you-he did it with Eve. He tempted her with something that looked good and harmless. She started thinking about it and then she acted on those thoughts!

I encourage you to memorize Philippians 4:8! It has really helped me in this area. Just the other day I was reading a book and it had something iffy in it...I was going to keep on reading it but Phil.4:8 popped up in my mind and I decided to quite reading the book. Just remember-"Garbage in, garbage out." But when you keep you mind and thoughts holy your life will bring forth those things of truth, purity, honesty, and virtue!

Have a great week guys! Keep serving Christ.

Last week my church has VBS and I had the privilege of helping out with the K5-1ST graders and also being a bus captain! It was an awesome week and I was so glad to be apart of it. We had over 20 kids get saved. Praise the Lord!

Here are some photos from last week:

Me and two of my fellow VBS helpers. Love these girls to death!

me and some of the kids on my bus :) I absolutely loved working a bus route (it was rough sometimes) but I loved getting to know the kids. I now am starting to help out on the bus every Sunday! So glad for this opportunity to reach out the kids in my community!

^ Some pictures of the kids that I helped with for VBS!

I got to be in a skit for VBS and I had to play one of the guy's old, grumpy, grandma! lol; I had to put on some old fashioned clothes and put baby powder in my hair. I also had to wear some glasses but I don't have a pic with them on...but anyway it was tons of fun!

The summer has gone by SO fast! I mean it's I the only one who feels this way? I'm starting school in a week! AHHHH. It's terrible. lol. but anyway...I've decided to do this awesome (yet hard) thing for high school. I've decided to finish my last three years of high school in two years! To be able to do this I got to be determined and try hard to double-up,etc. It's something I really want to do though and my parent's ok'd it, so I'm going to go for it :) So yeah....random but I thought I'd share that bit of news with you all anyway.

Thank you all so much for taking time to read my blog posts! I'm so sorry for not posting very often but the summer has been crazy busy. Have an awesome last week or so of summer! And good luck on starting the new school year!

Keep shining bright
