Bloom where you're planted

 Bloom!
About a year back I was struggling spiritually with life. I was discontent. Unhappy. I didn't think I belonged and I thought that I couldn't grow where I was...that I needed to be somewhere else, but God showed me that the most beautiful flowers bloom through adversity. They spring out from the dirt beneath them and radiate with beauty. Sometimes we say that the grass always is greener on the other side-we're always wishing for more in life but the truth is the grass is greener where you water it.
 Embrace life.
God put you in the life you're in for a reason, and even if you struggle with things from time to time remember that you can bloom anywhere, at anytime. It's your choice. Will you let struggles in life choke you up like a weed? Or will you bloom through the storms? I just thought today I'd share some points on how to bloom where your planted.

1) Water your life with the word
Isaiah 40:8 - The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
For a flower to bloom it must be watered. It must have a constant, steady nourishment. In life we need this too. God has given us his word to help us stay "well-nourished" for life. Every time I fail to stay in God's word I feel myself slowly weakening spiritually. We need to keep on reading and living in God's word. We can not grow physically without food or water. So how do we expect to grow spiritually without spiritual water-God's word? The Bible has the power to transform you. If you find comfort in God's word and purpose to drink it up in your life I promise you that you will bloom where you are planted! Water is necessary to grow.
2)  Have firm roots
Col 2:7 - Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
So many Christian teens fall out of the Christian life when they become an adult because they do not have firm roots. They don't know what they believe and why they believe it! Our roots need to be firmly planted in the things of the Lord. If we plant ourselves in the world we will shrivel away and bring forth sickly, dead leaves in life. Plant your life in things of the Lord not this world. Stand steadfast for the Lord. If your roots aren't firmly planted you won't bloom into what God has for you. Grow in him.
3) Don't compare yourself to other flowers
As a teen I know that we so often do this. We compare our lives to others. We constantly compare who we are to who others are. Don't compare yourself to others; compare yourself to Christ! A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just grows. Don't compare how colorful or exciting others lives are to your own! God planted you where he wants you. Don't be the sunflower who yearns to be a rose. God created you to be who you are. He needs each of us to bloom for him where he planted us. We each have a place in his garden. Learn to except your place and do as much for Christ as you can where He put you.
4) Grow in the rain
Lastly I think for us to bloom where we're planted we must grow in the midst of trials. Let everything you go through, grow you. Don't let it trample you. God sends storms our way to help strengthen us. We just must decide to strive through the storms not shrivel away. Remember that everything you grow through is forming you into the beautiful flower God made you to be.

2 Peter 3:18 - But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
